町家スタジオ 伊織machiya studio IORI

新しい形で伝統を紡いでゆく

「町屋スタジオ伊織」は、大正時代に建てられた建物を、伝統的建築技術を用いながら、現代に使いやすく改築したものです。西陣の一角で、北野天満宮や京都花街の一つ上七軒にもほど近い場所にあります。かつて、バッタンコットンと、どこまでも機織りの音が聞こえていたという職人街で、ここにも織機がありました。

We are spinning the tradition in a new form

“machiya studio IORI” is a building that was built in the Taisho era and was renovated for use in modern times using traditional construction technology. It is located close to Kitano Tenman-gu and at the corner of Nishijin, the artisan village of Nishijin Brocade, a famous weaving brand of Kyoto. This house also used to have a loom and the sounds of weaving used to continue throughout the day.
